TAXDEFEND™

TAXDEFEND™

Protect YOURSELF against an IRS Audit or Identity Theft TODAY!

Did you know that:

  • the expenses associated with most IRS audits can cost in excess of $1,000?
  • according to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (US TIGTA) every year the IRS receives ±2,400,000 new cases of employment identity theft that could affect YOU?
  • according to the US TIGTA resolving identity theft issues with the IRS can take up to 278 days?

Over the last few years we have experienced an increase in IRS enforcement activity (audits) and tax notices, largely ascribed to increased political pressure to enforce tax laws to shrink the perceived “tax gap” - the gap between what taxpayers legally owe and what taxpayers actually pay.

Although we have no control over the audit selection process of the IRS, we want you to know we stand behind our work and will represent you when you are audited. Unfortunately an additional charge for audit representation and related correspondence are applicable.

If a criminal wrongfully uses YOUR EIN or social number to obtain illegal work, you will need representation to clear your name with the IRS from any wrong doing, and the resulting penalties and interest normally charged in such incidents. This type of IRS fraud rehabilitation can be the most costly and time consuming process imaginable in our profession.

TAXDEFEND™ is a new service we are now offering you. It is 100% OPTIONAL and designed to ensure that you are not left out of pocket, if your tax identity gets stolen, or if you get audited by the IRS. The cost of the TAXDEFEND™ plan starts from a modest 20% of your annual tax return fee. This fee is non-refundable and the plan will expire if our accountant/client relationship ends.

Your normal tax return preparation fee does not include any costs that would be incurred as a result of audit or identity theft representation, responding to tax notices or printing additional copies of tax returns. Under most circumstances, the minimum cost to research and response to a tax notice is $100. IRS audit representation or Identity theft rehabilitation can easily individually cost you in excess of a $1,000.

If you enroll, Your plan will include the following services at NO additional cost to YOU:

  • Representation at the examination and review (agent only) level before the IRS, or any other state or local taxing agencies to the extent we are allowed by our professional designations. This will only apply to the specific tax returns which are covered by the TAXDEFEND™ audit protection plan purchase, AND
  • Response to any tax notices related to the returns we prepared, regardless of the event that generated the notice, AND
  • Changes or amendments to your returns due to the receipt of corrected source documents such as W-2s, 1099s and K-1s. We will change or amend your return for no additional fee as long as the original source document was included in your original return. This TAXDEFEND™ plan does not cover the filing of additional returns for states that were not included in your original return.
  • Identity Theft Representation with the IRS, state, and local tax authorities. We will assist you in filing the necessary documentation with the respective tax authorities to resolve certain issues associated with the identity theft that relate to the filing of the tax return, for example obtaining an identity theft pin number with the IRS.

We will add TAXDEFEND™ as a 100% OPTIONAL item to your annual tax invoice. If you want this protection, simply add it to your payment, otherwise just leave it out.
